Registration

To enter the competition, please register and pay the AU$230 entry fee.

Unfortunately the "she'll be right" approach to collecting payment didn't work very well last year so this year we will be charging a $50 late fee. If you have not paid by February 6th the entry fee with rise to $280. Sorry to have to do this, but competitions can only go so far on love alone.

The entry fee covers local club fees, FAI sanction fees, competition staff, maps, social events and presentation evening dinner. Your registration will appear on the Pilot List but no places are guaranteed until payment has been received. Please make payments via direct deposit to:

Requirements

Flying during summer in Bright can be demanding. Pilots entering the competition should have a minimum Intermediate rating (IPPI Para Pro 3) and be comfortable flying in strong thermic conditions and. All pilots must be HGFA members (see below). UHF CB radios (477MHz band) will be used by the organisers for official communication on flying days and you will need to be flying with one. You must have a GPS capable of recording a 3D tracklog.

Trophies and Prizes

Trophies will be awarded to all grades provided there are sufficient numbers in each class of Fun, Sport, Serial, Open, Womens and Masters. Class definitions can be found in the HGFA competition manual

Registration and Briefings

Pre-competition registration will take place at the Outdoor Inn between 6pm and 8pm on Friday March 5th 2009. A welcome briefing/day briefing will be held at the Outdoor Inn at 8.30am on Saturday March 6th 2009. A 9am daily briefing will be held at the Outdoor Inn to provide weather information and results from the previous task.

Scoring

The competition will be scored using the Airscore platform using GAP 2007 (lead out points and arrival points). Task parameters have been set as:

  - Nominal Distance: 35km
  - Minimum Distance: 5km
  - Nominal Time: 120min
  - Nominal Goal: 20%

Pilots will be required to upload their own tracklogs to the Airscore website after each task. Airscore will then present the flight overlaid on a map with the turnpoints displayed to allow pilots to review their flight. All relevant rules can be found in the current HGFA competition manual and the FAI Sporting Code Section 7B. Local rules will be provided at registration.

HGFA Membership

All pilots must have valid HGFA membership to fly in the competition, the membership form can be downloaded here. Further information on membership can be found at the HGFA website and short term membership is available to visiting pilots.
